It's William's Birthday

I would not say that I take the same day each week to call my "day off" however, Friday is the winner the majority of the time. Since I have not discovered a true hobby, I've always claimed eating was my hobby, I will take my day off and do laundry, yard work, chore around the house, or work on the cars. This Friday I had the opportunity to take the afternoon to celebrate with my son, William and my grand-daughter Mia, Williams 20th birthday. An interesting thing happened as the afternoon developed; When I picked him up I yelled across the street to some friends, "It's William's birthday!" When we sat down for lunch I made sure the waitress knew that, "It's was William's birthday." As we went to the auto parts store, wal-mart, and the community center I made sure that everyone knew it was, William's birthday. Everyone I talked to that day I made sure they knew that it was William's birthday. Why? One may say because he is my son and that is what fathers do. Others may say that I am proud of my child. These are good reasons yet, I would either in my mind or during one of my birthday announcement would go back to the day he was born. I was there that day had saw with my own eyes the miracle of birth, I am an eyewitness to this and because I am an eyewitness I can proudly proclaim my son's birthday.

Jesus told his disciples in Luke 24:48, "You are witnesses to these things." A group of people huddled in a room filled with fear, doubt, denial, and wonderment are eyewitnesses to the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ. As we have learned through time the drive like that of a proud parent drove the disciples to tell everyone they meet that Jesus is risen and to repent and believe the gospel. That fervour of that eyewitness account still moves today in christian disciples all over the world. Wow, what joy to hear the story again from an eyewitness account.

By the way, yesterday was William's birthday.
