My Three Kids

During my reccent study of scripture and preparing to preach this week I realized something about love. I have always told my kids how much I loved them and even made up silly games that had no ending to show that my love for them went on forever. I even told them that I loved them so much that I was willing to die in thier place. I suppose that I was taking the words of Jesus literaly when he said in John 15:13 "No one has greater love than this, to lay down ones life for ones friends." I have come to a different understanding today about that verse and the love that I have for my children. Yes I would lay down my life literaly for them however, they are in need of a love that through word and deed works towards making thier life better. They are in need of encouragment, advice, prayers, and understanding. They are in need of help when trouble comes and when times are good. They are in need of a father who is willing to say, "I love you this much" (arms outstreached). We cannot change the past, yet we can learn from it. To Amber, William, and Jariel I look forward to a future filled with this love that Christ wants for us.
Love Dad
